We offer a variety of group dog obedience classes at several convenient locations in the Rochester, NY area - including Monroe, Genesee, and Orleans counties.
Puppy Kindergarten
Eliminate problem behaviors before they begin. Learn to understand your dog's personality, and how to respond with an appropriate level of correction and/or praise in an interactive and safe setting. This class will focus on the proper socialization between puppies and their human counterparts. These skills will also be incorporated with ways to handle house training, nipping, jumping, chewing, etc.

Basic Obedience
Develop a mutual respect between you and your dog. Learn to use this relationship to master basic obedience commands, such as sit, stay, down, come, heel and stand. We use soft, effective training methods, which enable the dog to trust and respect their family. We emphasize verbal praise over a food reward to ensure that your dog is willing to work any time, any where. This class also includes a discussion which covers behaviors such as: dominance, nipping, chewing, jumping, digging, etc.

Intermediate Level I Obedience
This class will begin to develop your dog into the dog you can take anywhere. Longer down and stay commands for those picnics in the park, heeling off leash, social greetings that teach your dog proper introductions to new human and canine friends all give you and your dog more freedom without loss of control.

Intermediate Level II Obedience
Hone those off leash skills to new levels. This class is only open to those who have successfully completed Level I, can heel off leash for at least 1 minute, and will maintain the stay command even when favorite toys and friends bounce by. All commands will be practiced off leash with a variety of distractions including multiple dogs, people and toys. Exercises are taught with the ultimate goal being a leash free dog.

Small Breed Classes
Our small breed classes are designed for dogs 25 lbs and under. We offer different levels of classes that teach correction and leash techniques specific to the issues for small breeds, while still learning our class curriculum. Small breed classes offer a comfortable, social, and safe environment for even the smallest of dogs. Refer to the class schedule to view the current classes offered.

Canine Good Citizen
This AKC recognized program tests and teaches appropriate canine behavior in simulated everyday situations. Your dog will learn how to greet strangers politely, without jumping or barking, allow a new acquaintance to handle and groom them without distress, and to greet other canines socially and safely. We identify and reward dogs that have the training and demeanor to be community members in good standing, as well as a reliable family member. All dogs passing the CGC test receive a certificate from AKC, and are recorded in the Canine Good Citizen Archive. CGC is a valuable certification recognized by many agencies such as, dog parks, insurance companies, and rental housing.

Rally
Do you want to work with your dog in a challenging partnership? Rally is a great combination of CGC, Obedience, and Agility. Forty different obedience moves are combined at a brisk pace, with positive attitude and enthusiasm in performance. Courses are varied with combinations of sits, turns, and changes of pace. AKC offers Rally titles for successful completion of each the three skill levels offered. Rally will improve your dogs focus and precision through a fun and challenging course curriculum.

Jumping
Challenge and inspire your dog beyond the basics of obedience class. Develop eye contact, energy, and enhance your working relationship as you learn to safely and skillfully negotiate a course of jumps designed specifically for dogs. Proper form and technique will be taught to make this class successful and minimize risk of injury.

Hound Happy Hour
Now your dog has the opportunity to exercise and socialize in a safe, monitored environment with other friendly dogs. Hound Happy Hour is open to all social and properly vaccinated canines who love to play. Give yourself a break and your dog an hour he will truly appreciate.
Please contact us leaving your name, dogs name, breed, and phone number. Specify the date and location you are planning to attend. This allows us to limit the quantity of dogs or inform you of any scheduling changes. Please be sure to arrive 15 minutes early. Doors will close promptly at the starting time, and will not reopen to insure maximum play time. Proof of Distemper Series, Kennel Cough, and Rabies required.
